Bell in Colour is a series of watercolours that celebrate the lives of Mabel and Alexander Graham Bell at Beinn Bhreagh, Nova Scotia. A rich historical collection of black and white photographs and artifacts were the inspiration for these watercolours. A very small selection of these were used to tell the story that has often been told. Kellough wanted to emphasize the special and close relationship, the mutual respect and the love between Alexander Bell and his wife, Mabel, whose influence and guidance was instrumental to the many successes in Dr. Bell’s life.
Numerous sketches and research for colours of this era ensured accuracy to reflect a close interpretation of this period in Nova Scotia history. This is the first time a series of these photographs have been presented in such a format.
